Farmers movement to continue peacefully

New Delhi: The farmers movement will continue peacefully and further steps will be decided soon, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha, farmer unions body, has said in a statement.
This comes after the rioting farmers broke barriers to storm the national capital on Tuesday, overturned vehicles and hoisted a religious flag from the ramparts of the Red Fort.
Clashes broke out at multiple places, leading to violence in well-known landmarks of Delhi and its suburbs amid waves of violence that ebbed and flowed through the day.

New Delhi: Some groups of farmers started going back to their respective sit-in sites on Tuesday evening after hours of chaos during their tractor parade against the farm laws, but thousands of other protesters were still in several areas, including ITO, Nangloi and Mukarba Chowk, of the national capital.
Hundreds of farmers were sitting at the ITO crossing and many, who entered the city from the Singhu border protest site, were moving towards Delhi s Outer Ring Road.

A different group of farmers also entered the premised of the iconic Red Fort and ITO in the heart of the city.
The agitating farmers broke cement barricades at Nangloi Chowk and Mukarba Chowk following which the police used heavy tear gas shells to disperse the unruly crowd.
New Delhi: The Delhi Police resorted to baton charge and firing of tear gas shells on farmers at Nangloi Chowk in West Delhi as they tried to deviate from the pre-agreed route to enter the national capital during their protest.

Samyukta Kisan Morcha said on Tuesday it was calling off the farmers’ Republic Day tractor parade “with immediate effect”, a development that comes hours after clashes erupted between protesters and police in several parts of Delhi.
The morcha said peaceful protests would continue.
The morcha said in its official statement: “Samyukta Kisan Morcha has called off the Kisan Republic Day Parade with immediate effect, and has appealed to all participants to immediately return back to their respective protest sites. SKM announced the movement will continue peacefully and further steps will be discussed and decided soon”.

Farmers were seen moving back in batches to Tikri and Ghazipur border protest sites on Tuesday evening.
