Mamata Banerjee may challenge Nandigram verdict in court
Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee has said that she will approach the court over alleged mischief in Nandigram where she lost elections to her ex-aide Suvendu Adhikari. Mamata, who is set to head the eastern state for another five years, has a window of six months to seek re-election. As per the rule, a CM and minister must become a member of the Legislative Assembly within six months from the date of swearing-in.

Mamata Banerjee is trailing in early trends in a prestige fight in Bengal s Nandigram where her BJP rival is her former trusted lieutenant Suvendu Adhikari.

Nandigram is the town that catapulted Mamata Banerjee to power in 2011.
In 2011, Suvendu Adhikari was Ms Banerjee s right hand man as she campaigned for farmers land rights and rallied people around the Trinamool. He later won from the constituency and for years, the Adhikari family had a firm grip over Nandigram.
Suvendu Adhikari s switch to the BJP led to a flood of defections from the Trinamool Congress and left her without many top aides.

Mamata Banerjee was locked in a white-knuckled fight in Bengal s Nandigram against the BJP s Suvendu Adhikari, her former right hand man.
The Bengal Chief Minister trailed Suvendu Adhikari in the early rounds of counting, which dimmed her party s euphoria at a spectacular election victory in Bengal. She scraped past him and managed a 1,200-vote lead in the afternoon. There is still confusion over the final results though reports suggest she has won.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday accused goons from other states for the poll violence in Nandigram. She also called Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar to complain against the violence urging him to control the situation in the state. Mamata, who visited several polling booths in Nandigram, claimed that BJP influenced the voting by threatening TMC voters. The Trinamool Congress chief said that the Election Commission was overlooking cheating being committed by the BJP. I am going to win in Nandigram, but I am worried about democracy. They are influencing voting using the central forces, Mamata said. Whatever you (Election Commission) try, BJP will not win. In Nandigram, 90% of the votes will to TMC, she added.
