LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – Ben Barrett had three more hits Saturday, including his first career triple and a pair of RBI doubles, as Florida State wrapped its 2023 season with a 6-2 win at Louisville Saturday afternoon. Barrett notched his second three-hit game of the weekend after hitting three singles Thursday night. The Orlando native wraps his freshman season hitting .359 with 16 runs, 21 RBI and 28 hits in just 21 games. Conner Whittaker allowed two runs in 6.0 innings, and the Seminoles consistently got out of trouble thanks to spectacular defense. LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – Florida State scored three runs in the ninth inning – and the final seven runs of the game – to complete a 7-4 comeback victory over Louisville Friday night at Jim Patterson Stadium. Jackson Baumeister pitched a career-high 8.0 innings, and Brennen Oxford earned his first career save with a perfect ninth inning. Louisville took the lead with a pair of home runs in the third inning – a leadoff home run from Logan Beard, and a three-run shot from JT Benson – to take the 4-0 lead. FSU cut the lead in half with Williams’ single in the seventh inning, scoring Ben Barrett and McGwire Holbrook. Barrett led off the inning with a walk – FSU’s first of the game – and Holbrook pinch-hit and singled, his first pinch-hit of the season. TALLAHASSEE, Florida – Jordan Williams’ fourth hit of the season – and first at Dick Howser Stadium – was a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning to lead FSU to a 4-3 win over No. 1 Wake Forest Sunday afternoon. The Noles rallied from a 3-0 deficit after six innings with three runs in the seventh and Williams’ RBI in the ninth. The Seminoles used five pitchers to beat the Demon Deacons, with Jamie Arnold pitching a career-high 5.1 innings with six strikeouts. Andrew Armstrong pitched 2.1 innings with four strikeouts and just one hit, while Doug Kirkland  improved to 3-3 on the year by notching the final two outs in the top of the ninth. TALLAHASSEE, Florida – Florida State hosts the No. 1 team in baseball this weekend when Wake Forest comes to Tallahassee for a three-game series. The Demon Deacons – ranked No. 1 for the first time in school history – are 18-5 in the ACC and 40-7 overall. The Seminoles will recognize four graduates and senior athletes – Nander De Sedas, Colton Vincent, Brandon Walker and Brennen Oxford – in a ceremony prior to Saturday’s game. TALLAHASSEE, Florida – Sophomore Conner Whittaker allowed just three hits and struck out seven over 8.0 scoreless innings as FSU clinched the series against Mercer with a 9-0 win Saturday afternoon at Dick Howser Stadium. Whittaker’s eight innings were the most for a Seminole pitcher this season. At the plate, freshmen DeAmez Ross and Cam Smith hit two-run triples, while James Tibbs hit a three-run home run, his team-high 14th. After the first two batters of the game singled against Whittaker, only three more batters reached against the right-hander: a third-inning walk, a fourth-inning single and on an error in the eighth inning.
