Popular Assamese singer Bhitali Das passed away here on Wednesday.

GUWAHATI: Popular Assamese singer Bhitali Das passed away here on Wednesday. She was 41 years old. She was recently infected with the Coronavirus and was admitted to the Kalapahar COVID Hospital on April 16.
However, before she breathed her last, she was tested COVID-19 negative.
State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that she was suffering from diabetes. Her last performance was at the Judges Field during a Bihu programme organized by the All Guwahati Students Union on April 14.
The singer s death has been condoled by the artiste fraternity of the State along with different politicians and organizations. DIGBOI/DEMOW: Suspected ULFA militants kidnapped three employees of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) on Wednesday from a rig at Lakwa inside Lakuwa Tea Estate under Simalguri Police Station in Sivasagar district.
The development came close on the heels of the release of two employees of Quippo Oil and Gas Infrastructure Limited by the outfit in the first week of April.
Confirming the development ONGC spokesperson Jamil Passa said that the abducted employees include junior engineers Ritul Saikia and Mohini Mohan Gogoi, and junior technician Alakesh Saikia, all working in the production department of the Corporation.

GUWAHATI: The Gauhati High Court on Wednesday issued certain guidelines and norms to be followed for the functioning of the High Court in the Principal Seat as well as its outlying benches at Kohima, Aizwal and Itanagar and the subordinate courts of Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh.

GUWAHATI: The State Health Department has sought two crore doses of vaccines from Bharat Biotech International and Serum Institute under the liberalized COVID vaccine procurement policy.
An order which was placed before Bharat Biotech International on Tuesday reads that the State needs a large number of Covaxin since the Government of India has allowed COVID-19 vaccination for 18+ people also. The department sought details from Bharat Biotech International as to when it will supply the vaccine doses.
