Dimapur, Oct. 31 (EMN): State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Medziphema, organised a two-day training on “Package of practices for fruits and vegetable crops and its management” for ATMA functionaries on October 27 and 28. A press release from SAMETI stated that participants were trained on package of practices on winter vegetable crops, integrated pest management on fruits and vegetables, package of practices on fruits in NEH Region. The resource persons were Dr. Sentirenla Jamir, assistant professor of Horticulture at SASRD: NU, Medziphema campus; Dr. Pankaj Neog, associate professor of Entomology at SASRD: NU, Medziphema campus; and Aabon W Yanthan, scientist of Vegetable Science at ICAR NER, Nagaland Centre, Jharnapani. Dimapur, Oct. 17 (EMN): The inaugural programme of the PM Kisan Samman Sammelan by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was webcast by ICAR-KVK Peren, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, at KVK Peren office on Monday. An update informed that the special guest of the event, Chahutkerin, BJP general secretary, Kisan Morcha, Peren district, in his address stressed on the importance of agriculture for improving the livelihood of the farming community. He advised the farmers to be sincere in executing their works and avail all the government facilities for enhancing production and productivity of major crops in the district. Dr. Patu Khate Zeliang, ACTO GPB, spoke on the importance of rabi vegetable cultivation and encouraged the farmers to cultivate different vegetables in different sections so as to grow multiple crops in a single plot of land. Dimapur, Aug. 5 (EMN): State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Medziphema, organised a two-day training programme on “Livestock management and disease control” for ATMA functionaries on August 4 and 5. An update from SAMETI state that the participants were taught on livestock management and disease control in piggery, management and disease control in rabbit rearing, and livestock management and disease control in mithun. Resource persons of the training were Dr. Yhuntinlo Kent, farm manager of VFATI, Medziphema; Dr. Ebibeni Ngullie, SMS (Animal Science) at ICAR Research Complex for NEH, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema; and Dr. Kobu Khate, chief technical officer at NRC on Mithun, Medziphema. During the visit to mithun farm, the resource person has briefed on the benefits and potential of rearing mithun. It mentioned that mithun rearing is not only for meat purpose but also for milk, which has got high nutrition as compared to other domestic animal. Som
