GPRN/NSCN denies signing merger agreement with ZUF

DIMAPUR The GPRN/NSCN (Unification), under the leadership of Gen. (Retd.) MB Neokpao Konyak and N Kitovi Zhimomi, on Thursday, clarified that it has not signed any “merger agreement” with Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) led by Chairman S Kamson. However, it said the alliance between the two is to “protect and safeguard” common Naga political, historical rights and identity. “The alliance between GPRN/NSCN and ZUF was signed in New Delhi on October 28, 2019. The negotiations between GoI and WC-NNPG had traversed much depths and heights on all crucial matters and on the table was a workable, acceptable and honorable solution for all Nagas. “ZUF too had closely followed the Indo-Naga talks and the political situation and environment favoured an alliance with GPRN/NSCN. DIMAPUR Naga rebel leader N. Kitovi Zhimomi of the pro-solution Naga National Political Group (NNPG) said that to a large extent, the Article 371 (A) — the basis for creation of Nagaland state — is “not very clear” about many important subjects. “Please try to understand even socio-cultural matters such as the Urban Local Body matters have reached the Supreme Court because there is no clarity under Article 371 (A).
