Join us for a special Kids’ Art Day on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Museum admission is free for the whole day and we will host drop-in art activities in the stART Lab (Lower Level) from 10a.m.-2p.m. Children and their families are encouraged to stop by and make collages inspired by Romare Bearden, draw with coloring pages, and participate in a collaborative writing project.
Join us on January 12 & 13 at the Pump House Regional Arts Center in La Crosse, WI at 7:30pm for a concert with Johnsmith. Wisconsin songwriter Johnsmith has won several awards, including the Kerrville, TX New Folk and Great Lakes Songwriting Contests. He had a Nashville publishing deal for five years, and is the founder of Inishfree Irish musical tours. John has been playing with Dan Sebranek since 1987.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is one of the most talked about, quoted, and misunderstood figures in history. Surely, we talk about his marches and speeches. We discuss his commitment to equality. We admire his ability to stand in solidarity with the oppressed and marginalized of the world. But, in all of our discussions and meditations about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we often leave out that he was a messenger of God who was called to a divine and holy assignment. We are going to illuminate Dr. King’s life, work and the nexus between both and his faith.
