Mark your calendars for Folklore Village's 76th annual Festival of Christmas & Midwinter Traditions! Founded by Jane Farwell in 1947 as an antidote to the growing commercialization of the season, this festival celebrates and shares the customs and traditions of people worldwide. This year’s joyful, immersive celebration of folklore and community will feature Polish dance workshops with Duane & Slavka Tomka, singing workshops with Brendan Taaffe, beading with Karen Ann Hoffman, crafts, kids activities, evening parties, cultural teas, and much more.
The show takes place at an ugly sweater party, where all the guests are joyful singers, incredible tap dancers, and high-energy musicians! The interactive fun takes off on a jolly sleigh ride of swingin’ holiday mash-ups. The party gets extra exciting when Santa Claus starts rapping to Rudolph over horn-band funk while Frosty the Snowman tap dances a groove beat, and all of the other reindeer hit powerhouse hip-hop choreography a magical combination you have to see to believe!
Join us for this special solo performance featuring Eric Tessmer An American blues guitarist residing in Austin, Texas. The Austin Chronicle named Eric Tessmer the best guitarist in the city for 2017–2018, based on their annual poll. A Richland Center, Wisconsin native, Tessmer developed his love affair with music through a kind of familial osmosis. He cut his teeth playing residencies in clubs and bars, shared stages with everyone from Gary Clark, Jr.
