far as the legal case is concerned. i mean the second these allegations dropped, you had a number of opinions all across the spectrum, particularly about somebody who was so-called a late reporter or a delayed reporter of all these things. remember she was trying to get within the window of the new law in new york that says an adult survivor of sexual assault or abuse had a very slim window, and she was trying to get through that and had a very extensive complaint against this person. but there were no criminal charges that had been filed. they ran the gamut. the fact this has happened now, the day after, after his counsel has already said that she was in it for a payday prior to this, and he had been for the past six months threatened with some sort of action like this. she withdrew a threat and then came back with this lawsuit. there are going to be a lot of questions now about what s in the actual settlement and whether it s a complete and total muzzle for her now, which
was richard nixon right when he said when a president does it, that means it s not illegal? well. a judge may have just said in one very specific and important way that, yeah, he might be right. tonight sara wallace says that donald trump gets to stay on the pilot in colorado. this despite the judge finding and saying in pretty plain english that donald trump engaged in an insurrection. during the january 6th attack on the united states capitol. now, the court found that trump intended to incite political violence, that trump wanted to direct it at the capitol, and that trump s plan was to stop the peaceful transfer of power. and that trump was not, in fact, protected by the first amendment when he said that. we are going to walk down to the capitol and we re gonna cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women and we re probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them. because you ll never take back our country with weakness. you have to show strength. w
any time you settle a case like this. yeah, huge question about that and, look, just as a reminder, diddy is wealthy, extremely powerful, still to this day after 30 years in this industry, something like this, i think, probably has already done some damage but i think they were clearly concerned it could do more if it were to continue, laura, i know you have a lot to get to in your show. have a good one. have a good one and happy early birth day, abby phillip, everyone. thank you. she ll be 25. thanks. a surprise ruling and a big victory for donald trump, but what happens now? tonight on laura coates live. remember that phrase, no one is above the law? how about this one, how does it go again, let me get it right, if the president does it, it s not illegal. starting to come back to you now, isn t it? well, today there s a new one for the history books, a colorado judge finding that donald trump incited, really, an insurrection or intentionally engaged in behav
world leaders are not joining you in that call, like the us or the uk? no, i hope they will. and let s be clear, i mean, i was one of the first leaders to call the prime minister and president of israel after the terrorist attack on the 7th of october. we clearly condemn this terrorist attack by this terrorist group and recognise the right of israel to protect itself and react. but day one, we say that this reaction, the fight against terrorism, because it is led by a democracy, should be compliant with international rules. rule of war and humanitarian international law. and day after day, what we saw is permanent bombing of civilians in gaza. and i think it is very important to say the whole story. but i think this is the only solution we have, the ceasefire. because it is impossible to explain, we want to fight against terrorism by killing innocent people. you have talked about the fight against terrorism needing to be merciless, is the word you used, but not without rules.
all right, everyone, it s 4:00 in new york. the extraordinary moment when donald trump went from disgraced, twice impeached, four times indicted ex-president liable for sexual abuse and defamation to suddenly, in an instance, disgraced, convicted, twice-impeached, four times indicted ex-president liable for sexual abuse and defamation. it s just the beginning of the beginning, the start of a long legal odyssey for donald trump. and because the republican party has followed him willingly down to the rabbit hole toward autocracy, the country has to grapple with it as well. having spent the trial in an environment completely out of his control, defendant donald trump will now be subject to the rules, the demands, and the processes of the criminal justice system, just like any other american citizen, who s been convicted of a felony. his right to vote, even on a ballot that bears his name is likely to survive only because of a quirk of the law in his current home state of florida
