Tonight we are delighted to have derek beck presented the war before independence 1775. Derek has always had a passion for military history which inspired him to start his career in the u. S. Air force, he has served as an officer on active duty and science roles and in space operations. In 2005 he earned a master of science degree at m. I. T. Where he also fell in love with bostons revolutionary past. To more fully pursue writing, he later transitioned to the air force reserves, though he still remains quite active, presently holding the rank of major. Dereks first book igniting the American Revolution, 1773 to 1775 received an Honorable Mention here at the Fraunces Tavern museum book award in april. Dereks second book, the sequel, the war before independence and that was released in may. I would now like to welcome derek to the lectern. [ applause ] thank you all for coming. This one happened around 8 30 last night on gloucester street about a block off victoria boulevard. Dispatchers say the victim was not badly hurt. New this morning we can show you the mug shot of a william mary researcher facing child pornography charges. This is 46yearold Michael Wilson hes a Research Biologist at the college. Senate democrats approved a historic rules change that all but ends the use of a filibuster to delay most president ial nominations. President obama welcomed the shift, but republicans are crying foul and warned that dangerous precedent has been set. Susan mcginnis is in washington with the details. Susan, good morning. Annemarie, good morning. This rule change is so controversial its known in washington as the nuclear option. It basically removes the ability of the Minority Party to block most president ial nominations. Now, democrats say republicans have used the filibuster to in a campaign of obstruction against president obama. Republicans say democrats have a hidden agenda. The ayes are 52, the nays are 48. With all but three of their members agreeing to the change, democrats have effectively killed the filibust

Mandatory evacuations are in place up north in napa because of a wildfire thats threatening 20 homes in the canyon area. Hundreds of firefighters have the fire 25 contained right now now. Fire started around 9 30 last night with the strong winds that quickly grew to hundreds of acres. Red cross has sed set up a shelter to help the folks. Fire started near soma canyon road. Also shady oaks drive, ridge drive and chimney rock road. The fire is visible from silverado trail. We have a crew on the scene. Were going to bring you a live report coming up. The high winds killed a man in oakland. Joe vazquez reports a motorcyclist died on austin street when a large tree branch fell on him. We heard like a loud bang from the house.
