The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow alert for Mumbai and several other districts in Maharashtra due to heavy rainfall. The weather office has predicted light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms in parts of north Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh. Mumbai has already experienced heavy rainfall and more is expected at night.

For the first time since July, the city recorded three-digit rainfall figures with Santacruz registering 111 mm rain in 24 hours ending Friday morning. Previously, rain surpassed the 100-mm mark in the city on July 28.
