According to the data furnished by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Santacruz weather station recorded over 92.5mm rainfall until 5.30pm on Thursday while the Colaba coastal observatory registered 43.6mm rain.
For the first time since July, the city recorded three-digit rainfall figures with Santacruz registering 111 mm rain in 24 hours ending Friday morning. Previously, rain surpassed the 100-mm mark in the city on July 28.
Addressing the retreat of moderate rainfall, officials from the central weather department said there is no developing synoptic situation and therefore, the city will once again receive light showers.
Even as the weather bureau sounded an yellow alert for the city indicating heavy downpour on Wednesday, it was a no-show rather, with the city and its suburbs experiencing little or no rain in the day.
