In yet another unfortunate incident, a young man was killed by a leopard in remote area of Battagram district in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).
According to the wildlife department, the victim identified as Tale Zar, s/o Mehmood Shah – resident of Donga – along with his friend was searching for natural mushrooms in a nearby forest when they were attacked by the wild animal which left him dead while his friend escaped unhurt.
Battagram Deputy Commissioner Abdul Hameed Khan while talking to The Express Tribune confirmed the incident and said that amid rising cases of human-wildlife conflicts the administration is coordinating with the relevant department and joint strategy is being devised to stop such incidents.

PESHAWAR:
The Chief Conservator Wildlife has terminated two watchmen of the Wildlife Department in DI Khan from service after three rare black bucks were stolen from it on February 10.
Chief Conservator Wildlife Muhsin Farooq visited the Wildlife Park and Zoo in DI Khan where he was briefed about the incident. He was informed that despite the presence of watchmen and other officials, people entered the park and took away the animals after cutting the fence.
Both the watchmen are already in police custody and further investigations are underway to ascertain the truth.

ABOTTABAD:
According to wildlife officials, an American citizen named Edward Joseph Hudson hunted down the longest horned Markhor in the Toshi Shasha conservation area in Chitral on Saturday.
The hunter was said to have paid the official authorities $88,000 as the permit fee to hunt the Markhor under the hunting trophy programme.
