that s always the primary goal, and so it s getting her to listen to the sounds in a fun way and respond to them, and one of the techniques that we used for speech was oral motor therapy, which means that we are working on the structure and the rerength and flexibility of the articulators because children that haven t heard the first 3 years of life don t really use their jaw strength and their tongue strength the same way as children who have, and so we ve strengthened those so she can make all the rapid movements of speech, and i think what you hear with lauren is, she has beautiful speech. i saw him yesterday. and you have to set goals for yourself, and you have to try to meet those goals, and if you don t, you just have to keep on trying harder and harder or lower the goals. say, like, you don t want to start something out, like, too hard for yourself. you want to take it easy, then work your way up. narrator: because their deafness is always discovered first, individuals

[inaudible] yes, i do. i do not have any specific sites but i think building new buildings, designing new buildings will also be a big part of this. i think it is very smart for tmg to team up over existing buildings. these are just as valuable got jobs to reconstruct these buildings. new buildings is a part of it. clearly what is on my mind is the salesforce campus, as we talked about. we will continue to work on that side. we have some other sites that are vacant and very appropriate for building, so we look forward t
successful and accessible. or use money to create an even better coffee shop that will come here to san bruno. it is going to come very soon. we have leadership in place. we have coronation. funding is in the works. we have coordination. we re on a positive scales in our economy. i am going to use the additional revenues we see coming into this city. make sure we do it and use it smartly. we are going to invest in our community challenge grant program that has been so successful all along this corridor. they have worked magic with the neighborhood groups that want to see greening and better programs. the murals in place of grafitti have been wonderful. it will be replicated throughout the city. thank you very much for joining us. [applause] the next speaker is school board commissioner and the mayor s adviser on families and education, hydra mendoza. thank you. i had a chance to see this this morning and i am just so proud to be in a city where the leadership has taken this courageous step to talk about something, particularly for our youth, that we have had a really difficult time confronting. for the last 20 years, san francisco unified has been a leader around adopting curriculum, making wellness centers and your resource centers available to our youth. it has not been enough. the court to all of this is always about the caring adults. what you have demonstrated for us today is the ability to reach out and connect with our youth and let them know that there is a caring faction in our community and ever
