Team spirit, passion stressed to eradicate polio from region

MULTAN: South Punjab Health Secretary Muhammad Ajmal Bhatti Monday stressed team spirit and passion to eradicate polio from the region.
Chairing a meeting, the health secretary asked all officials and field staff concerned to strive for the complete eradication of polio from all districts of south Punjab. He said more training and continuous efforts would meet the challenge of the disease.
Additional Secretary Coordination Primary and Secondary Health Care Department Punjab Sundas Irshad also attended the meeting. The meeting discussed various issues arising in all districts of South Punjab during the recent anti-polio campaign.

MULTAN: The South Punjab Health Department expressed serious concerns over poor facilities and cleanliness arrangements at Nishtar Hospital, Multan.
South Punjab Health Secretary Muhammad Ajmal Bhatti visited the hospital and found the hospital affairs especially the cleanliness state in a deplorable state. According to health officials, the secretary observed serious violations of coronavirus SOPs when he visited the emergency department of the hospital.
The secretary reprimanded the Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Shahid Mehmood Bokhari and directed him to improve the hospital affairs as soon as possible. The secretary said no negligence would be tolerated in terms of providing health facilities to patients at the hospital.

15-day anti-typhoid drive starts tomorrow
10 million children across 12 districts to get shots in first phase

A 15-day typhoid vaccination drive will commence tomorrow across 12 districts of Punjab.
During the first phase, 10 million children from the age of nine months to 15 years would be vaccinated in 12 districts while the second phase will begin in the month of May to vaccinate 19.3 million children in urban areas of 24 other districts.
A seminar in this connection was held at local hotel titled Role & Responsibilities of media in Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine (TCV) drive’ on Saturday.
South Punjab Health Secretary Muhammad Ajmal Bhatti said that the Typhoid vaccination drive was being launched at four districts of South Punjab including Multan, Layyah, Rajanpur and DG Khan.
