and more serious news, the president will travel to louisiana today to see firsthand the aftermath of hurricane isaac. hundred of thousands of homes and businesses still have no power this morning nearly a week after the storm hit. many people are still being kept from their homes because of all of the widespread flooding in parts of the state. those who have been able to go home still face misery once they get there. everybody has been hanging out on their front porches. pretty much the only place we can get a breeze. and not you know, be sweltering in your own house. so it s been sort of miserable. we are hoping that around the corner they will get the power on by today. there is new worry about west pearl river in mississippi. it could top its banks and threaten 5,000 homes in that area. amazing a week later still talking about watching rivers cresting and all that. just the widespread impact off a minor hurricane. 400,000 still without power, of any kind. can you imagine
it s 5:00 a.m. in the east. let s get started. first, it s a super soaker. tropical storm hammering florida with extreme weather. the slow-moving snow sith off the coast of alabama and the florida panhandle. the outer bands whipping up dangerous surf and triggering this huge water spout off juneau beach. also spawn ag deadly tornado in florida as it drenches the coast. officials say a woman was found dead in a home in venus located in the middle of the state between port st. lucie and sarasota. a child in one of the damaged homes was also injured and taken by the hospital. people say they were blind-sided by the twisters. i got my wife and my dog put them in a hallway there and said it s coming. about that time it started blowing real hard. it happened real fast, in a matter of 30 seconds. we saw a bunch of wind pick up. shoved into the bathroom. scared half to death. it was pretty traumatic. meteorologist alexandra steele is tracking the storm for us. slow and fierce.

over texas but it will. a chance of severe weather in dallas-ft. worth, probably hail. the western half of the state, western third from amarillo, still very dry out there. not a cloud in the sky. it s going to than way for the next couple of days. but there will be an awful lot of rainfall in the forecast. kind of have to give you a map here. there would be kansas. here s oklahoma. and then here s texas. okay. so not great, but it s raining. and that s where most of the fire activity is, anyway. the pk fire right about there. other fires here to the west of dfw, that s great. this is five days worth of rainfall. in some spots in arkansas they could pick up 11 inches of rain in the next five days because the humidity s. the mugginess is in dallas and shreveport and austin. temperatures are warm but not dry. dry is way out in the west. albuquerque, blubbock. current rainfall. storms moving through jackson, hattiesburg and showers popping
warm air is coming from the gulf of mexico. it s muggy, it s steamy. right. you walk outside in dallas, it s a bad hair day. well, not for you. but you get the idea. it s all that mugginess, everybody s hair is going frizzy and you get that up into the holder air and you get kansas city and wichita and enid and ponca city and that s where the severe weather and tornadoes will be today. that being said, there s still more i want to talk about here. there s the potential for some severe weather although not tornadoes for the eastern part of the u.s., from d.c. down through richmond as the cell here, kind of a line right there. right. the squall line. right. we don t talk about squall lines much because they don t make tornados. right. a tornado storm wants to be all by itself right out here and it gets to eat all the energy. right. it gets to be the big dog. the squall line is part of a larger system? when you get a line of storms like that, they re all fighting f
