McCrobie enshrined as a member of the NYS High School Softball Hall of Fame

OSWEGO — Mike McCrobie believed his career on the diamond was over when he was cut from his junior varsity baseball team as a high school freshman. But now at age 64, the former Oswego High School softball coach remains active in a men’s slow-pitch league and is celebrating his first summer as a member of the NYS High School Softball Hall of Fame. McCrobie was selected by the New York State Sportswriters and Coaches Organization for Girls Sports and recently enshrined as a coach and contributor in the Class of 2020. The ceremony was held earlier this summer at the Mudville Softball Complex in Herkimer after last year’s event was postponed due to COVID-19.

Work ethic pays off for Yerdon-Grange Former Sandy Creek player inducted into NYS Softball Hall of Fame Class of 2020

SANDY CREEK — Margaret Yerdon-Grange developed her softball skills by pitching at a target outside of Pat McDougal’s Sandy Creek classroom, igniting a work ethic that has led to joining her former coach representing the Comets in the NYS Softball Hall of Fame. Yerdon-Grange was inducted by the New York State Sportswriters and Coaches Organization for Girls Sports as a pitcher/infielder for its softball Hall of Fame Class of 2020, which was enshrined earlier this summer at the Mudville Softball Complex in Herkimer due to last year’s COVID-19 postponement. The 1997 Sandy Creek graduate, who recently finished her 12th season as head softball coach for Division III University of Rochester, was unable to attend the ceremony due to recruiting commitments but called it an honor to be selected.
