(KEYC) — Minnesota State Mavericks fans have been in the stands for a little over a month now, and the university says it’s been going well. A limited number of fans were allowed back into the facilities, starting with mostly family members. Looking at one of the main winter sports still going strong into playoffs is men’s hockey. Players, family, friends and fans are excited to get some energy back in the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center.

(KEYC) — In Cade Borchardt’s debut season with the Minnesota State Mavericks, the Burnsville native registered four shots on goal and blocked two shots. Now, in his sophomore season, he leads the team with 5 goals and 8 assists. Borchardt’s production through nine games isn’t one many predicted ahead of the season. “I wish I could tell you that I knew it was going to happen,” Head Coach Mike Hastings said. “You hope for freshmen to take a step as a sophomore. What I’ve seen is, there’s a lot of times when you have a freshman that goes out and has a really good freshman season, has the proverbial tendency to potentially have a sophomore slump.
