Farmers in Punjab s Amritsar held a three-day rail blockade to demand financial aid for losses caused by floods and Minimum Support Price (MSP) guarantee. The protest was called by 18 unions in North India, with farmers from Haryana also joining in solidarity. The farmers are demanding compensation for flood-related losses, the implementation of MSP guarantee laws, and withdrawal of cases against protesters.
The MSP Guarantee Front formed by the various farmer’s bodies has decided to hold meeting in the various parts of country to mobilise support for it.
"During this week, all the constituent organizations associated with the SKM will organize dharnas, demonstrations, seminars, demanding legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (C2+50 per cent) as recommended by the Swaminathan Commission, to all farmers on all their agricultural produce," it said.
