Dance duo Daft Punk left fans devastated yesterday when they announced they ve split after 28 years together. But just who are the men behind the distinctive robot helmets?
Famously publicity shy, Guillaume Emmanuel de Homem-Christo (known as Guy-Manuel, or Guy-Man) and Thomas Bangalter have used their signature look to keep their identities largely under wraps - until now.
FEMAIL has unmasked the elusive duo and delved into the private lives to reveal how they went from friends at a Paris state school in the early 1990s to chart-topping musicians with six Grammy wins and estimated personal fortunes of £50million.
While many with similar success are household names, Homem-Christo and Bangalter have kept themselves and their families out of the spotlight, avoiding public events and only performing on stage when their faces are hidden behind helmets or masks.

Peering into 2021
In recent days, I’ve been entertaining myself by reading the various
predictions for 2020 published at the beginning of last year. Writers, scholars, critics and self-described futurists forecast the rise of “statement doorknobs,”hot pants and “smart” eyewear, as well as the decline of social media (LOL) and a growing political apathy among young people (ROFL). No one foresaw a global pandemic cross-pollinated by intense protests in the name of Black lives. Go figure.
Times opinion columnist
Robin Abcarian, however, did pretty much nail 2020 when it came to electoral politics, rounding out her predictions dispatch with this observation: “Between now and the election, our long national nervous breakdown will continue.” Even post-election, the breakdown continues. In fact, just consider me broken down.
What will the new $1.6B Moynihan station do for NJ Transit riders at Penn Station?
Updated Dec 30, 2020;
If visiting out-of-town relatives come to New York City by train after Friday, Moynihan is the new grand train station you want to meet them at.
Starting Friday, passengers can skip the underground “rabbit warren” that historians derisively nicknamed the low-ceiling subterranean maze that replaced the majestic original Penn Station in the mid 1960s.
Moynihan doesn’t replace Penn Station, but it augments it with a large, sunlit open-air public area in a train hall the size of Grand Central Terminal, which is a stark contrast to the depressing underground Penn Station.
