NANAIMO – The Serious Crime Unit is investigating a body found on Boxing Day morning outside a Nanaimo bar. The body was discovered around 5:45 a.m. on Boxing Day in the alley behind the Oxy Pub in the Old City Quarter. The preliminary investigation couldn’t determine a cause of death, so the SCU was brought in. RCMP. Cst. Gary O’Brien said in a release the man was last seen around 9:30 p.m. on Christmas Day. “Investigators have learned in the evening of Friday, Dec. 25 loud voices were heard coming from the area that the deceased was found.”
