A city man who allegedly took $24,000 from Harrahâs Casino and Racetrack in November has been held for trial on all counts following a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Dawn Vann Tuesday. Markile Washington, 27, of the 100 block of Mowry Street, is charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property for the Nov. 30 robbery. The theft occurred about 11:42 p.m. as a casino employee was counting money, according to an incident report. The woman told police that Washington had approached and asked to use the phone. She gave him the phone and then turned her back and continued to count, according to the report. She said she believed the money drawer was closed, but it was left slightly open, allowing Washington to allegedly reach in and grab stacks of $100 bills.
