Deborah Anderson Running for State College Area School Board

Deborah Anderson, a former college professor and an active parent volunteer in the school district, is seeking election to the State College Area School Board this year. She is cross-filed on the Democratic and Republican ballots for the May 18 primary election. “As a teacher, I am committed to excellence in education for all students. And as a parent, I believe strongly that our schools must be welcoming and inclusive,” Anderson said in a press release.. She has lived in the State College area since 2009 and most recently taught in Penn State’s School of Labor and Employment Relations. 

CVIM, Mount Nittany Health Encourage Community Members to Register for COVID-19 Vaccination Appointments

With all Pennsylvania residents age 16 and older eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, Centre Volunteers in Medicine and Mount Nittany Health are both encouraging community members to sign up for vaccination appointments at their clinics. Vaccines are administered at no cost and individuals do not need to be current patients of CVIM or Mount Nittany to schedule appointments. Anyone 16 or older can register. CVIM will offer the Pfizer vaccine at a clinic scheduled for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday at Mount Nittany Middle School. Johnson & Johnson Vaccine Rollout Begins For Central Pa School Employees

   Teachers, nurses, principals and other school staff from Centre, Clearfield and Clinton counties began arriving at Mount Nittany Middle School at 8 a.m. Saturday for a special COVID-19 vaccine clinic. Employees received Johnson & Johnson single-dose shots that Governor Tom Wolf earmarked exclusively for K-12 school employees and childcare workers. The State College Area School District Operations Director Randy Brown said hundreds have scheduled appointments during the four-day clinic. “Many of our folks have already received a vaccination through the various clinics in the community or their medical providers, but over the next several days we re going to have a much larger number that received the vaccination and we re very excited about doing that, Brown said.

Hundreds of School Employees from Centre, Clinton and Clearfield Counties will be receiving COVID Vaccines in State College. The Central Intermediate Unit 10 Vaccination Clinic for area School Employees began Saturday at Mount Nittany Middle School. In partnership with AMI Expeditionary Healthcare and the State College Area School District, hundreds of School Employees from several nearby Counties will be able to get Vaccines. CIU 10 Executive Director Dr. Francine Endler saying: “So, I think this is an opportunity, and we are honored to be partnering with all of our State agencies to give Education-related personnel an opportunity to get the Vaccine to increase the ability for Schools to operate with those in-person frameworks.”
