Rescue operation at Dombai resort hit by avalanche completed
CHERKESSK. Jan 19 (Interfax) - Rescuers have finished working on the slope of Mount Mussa-Achitara, part of a ski resort in Dombai, Karachayevo-Cherkessia, where an avalanche occurred a day earlier, the regional branch of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations said. The search and rescue operation on January 18 led to the discovery of a male body; no other dead or injured have been found. The area covered by the avalanche has been examined by rescuers in full, the ministry said.
The operation covered 60,000 square meters of snow, it said.
The avalanche hit the mountain slope at around 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Snow covered two ski equipment rentals and damaged a cafe. A dead body was retrieved from under the snow following the avalanche. The victim has been identified as Khadzhi-Murat Marshankulov, president of the Karachayevo-Cherkessia s Dombai Alpine Skiing and Snowboard Federation.

CHERKESSK, January 19. /TASS/. Search and rescue operations at the site of an avalanche that cascaded down Mount Mussa-Achitara in the Dombay settlement of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, in the North Caucasus, have been completed, the press service of the republic’s Emergencies Agency told TASS. Rescue units completed operations on the slope of Mount Mussa-Achitara where an avalanche came down earlier. On January 18, during the search and rescue works the body of a man was recovered, no other injuries or casualties were detected. The rescuers searched the entire area of the avalanche, the agency’s representative said.
