April 12 You wake up to a dark, dreary, glum-feeling, Monday-type of morning. For the 547th consecutive day. Just 18 months prior, you were a hard-working farmer gearing up for another bountiful crop season.
But then the skies went dark. From early 536 to 537, they stayed dark.

Across much of eastern Europe and throughout Asia, spring turned into summer and fall gave way to winter without a day of sunshine. Like a blackout curtain over the sun, millions of people across the world s most populated countries squinted through dim conditions, breathing in chokingly thick air and losing nearly every crop they were relying on to harvest.

April 12 (UPI) A volcano on the southeastern Caribbean island of St. Vincent erupted again on Monday and residents were told to expect more ash clouds.
More than 16,000 people have evacuated their homes since La Soufrière volcano first erupted on Friday. St. Vincent is the largest island of the country St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

April 6 (UPI) Researchers say grain waste from beer production a protein- and fiber-rich powder-like substance can be turned into novel protein sources and biofuels, according to a study to be presented Tuesday at the spring meeting of the American Chemical Society.
The presentation will be streamed live online, starting at 10 a.m. ET.
