Bands of some heavier snow across parts of south jersey where you can see kind of that pinkish color near hammonton, near medford lakes, Atlantic City, lbi, this is where were getting more moderate snow. Generally were looking at one to 3 inches of snow. So, its not a lot of snow, its the timing during the evening commute. Its affecting visibilities. You can see philadelphia and trenton visibility less than a mile. Atlantic city airport visibility less than a mile and a half but you can see how things are really clearing out. Reading visibility up to 8 miles so this is a very quick hit. The problem, though, temperatures have been stuck in the 20s all day long, so any flake is sticking on the roads. Its 25 in philadelphia. Here at 30th street station many students are heading home for the o holidays and they were concerned given amtraks derailment south of seattle. Its a little scary. I think its crazy and i really feel for those people andheir families. Generally i feel safe but aveling in inclement weather its in the back of my mind. Robert mongeluzzi represented 34 passengers on amtrak train 188. The train derailed in Port Richmond with 238 passengers on board. Eight were killed and over 200 injured. The train was traveling over 100 miles an hour in a 50 Miles Per Hour zone when it hit a curve and went off the tracks. He sees striking similarities to todays derailment. The first thing that you think about when a train derails on a curve is it was going too fast. And when you see the locomotive, which is heavier and goes on a Straight Path while everything behind it falls over, it is eerily reminiscent of amtrak 188. Reporter
