Farmer allegedly beaten to death for slaughtering goat that was damaging his crops

A farmer was beaten to death yesterday, after he allegedly slaughtered a goat for damaging his crops in Gazipur s Kaliganj upazila.
The deceased was identified as Azizur Rahman (33), an inhabitant of Royen village under the upazila.
The incident took place around 11:30am yesterday, a day after Azizur along with his friends slaughtered the goat, cooked and ate it, as the animal entered and damaged his eggplant field, said AKM Mizanul Haque, officer-in-charge of Kaliganj Police Station.
Yesterday morning, as Azizur went to a place near his house, the goat s owner Mostaq Khan and his men beat him up, leaving him critically injured.
