Rick and Morty fans were freaking pranked with a fake
Rick and Morty Babies special. Now, the show has shared a less troll-oriented new thing with a short film.
The newly shared 17-minute special is called
Rick and Morty in the Eternal Nightmare Machine, and it s a tribute to classic side-scrolling 16-bit games. It was created by animator Paul Robertson, whose credits include
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, among others.
The new special is available below, where you ll also find another trailer for
Rick and Morty Season 5. THe upcoming season will arrive on Adult Swim on June 20.
April Foolsâ!
On Wednesday night, Adult Swim trolled âRick and Mortyâ fans by morphing the seriesâ titular grandfather-grandson duo into infant versions of themselves for a special episode in honor of April Foolsâ Day.
To pull off the stunt, the network hired child voice actors to dub the season two episode âTotal Rickall,â which originally ran in 2015 and sees the Smith family plagued by parasites.
Additionally, the animation team created a whole new intro sequence for âRick and Morty Babies,â reimagining the beloved mad scientist and high school student as tricycle-riding, teething, drooling, crying, diaper-wearing newborns.
The one-off âRick and Morty Babiesâ episode debuted as part of Adult Swimâs 2021 April Foolsâ programming, which has also included kiddie adaptations of âGemusetto Machu Picchuâ (now âGemusetto Machu Preschoolâ) and âAqua Teen Hunger Forceâ (now âAqua Child H

Back in 2017, Adult Swim pulled off the rare satisfying April Fools’ Day prank by giving fans the surprise debut of the third season premiere of
Rick and Morty. Though they didn’t follow suit with the fifth season premiere – though the first trailer for new episodes arrived earlier this week – they still delivered something fun for longtime fans to enjoy.
