Police are investigating a string of burglaries at construction sites this week in both Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo.
At the Morro Bay Water Reclamation Facility and pipeline sites, burglars left with $300,000 worth of equipment between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
âWhen the suspects entered the yard, they accessed several storage containers and they moved large pieces of construction equipment,â said Commander Amy Watkins, Morro Bay Police Department.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of equipment was stolen from a construction site in Morro Bay, according to the Morro Bay Police Department.
Two construction sites were reportedly targeted by burglars in the early morning hours on Thursday, March 11.
Police say at the construction site in the 500 block of South Bay Boulevard, where crews are building the city s new water reclamation facility, several storage containers were burglarized with approximately $300,000 worth of commercial equipment reported stolen.
At the nearby construction site in the 1300 block of Quintana Road, police say additional storage containers were broken into and several large, heavy items were taken.

Morro Bay High School teacher accused of misusing funds

The former auto shop teacher at Morro Bay High School allegedly sold vehicles repaired by students without depositing funds from the sales back into a school account. [Tribune]
Additionally, ex-automotive technology teacher James Bueno used school club funds to purchase car parts for personal use, regularly spent more out of the auto club account than was budgeted and gave his mother a car that was repaired using school funds, according to the findings of a private investigations firm.
Following a decade on the Morro Bay High campus that included six years as the school’s automotive technology teacher, as well as stints as a football and a volleyball coach, Bueno resigned with a $48,000 severance package. His resignation took effect Nov. 30, 2020.
