Tampa, Fla, – The number two ranked Florida State Seminoles started the Tampa Invitational with a 2-0 record defeating No. 6 GCU 4-1, and No. 11 Stetson 5-0. FSU 4, No. 6 GCU 1 The Seminoles carried their momentum from an undefeated opening weekend at home into their first match of the day against No. 6 Grand Canyon. Jordan Polo and Morgan Chacon dominated on court four in the duo’s first pairing of the season. Polo and Chacon quickly took care of business in the first set winning 21-15. The second set was no different as the duo once again took a 21-15 win, giving the Noles’ their first dual point. On court five, Makenna Wolfe and Carra Sassack won the first set easily 21-13. In the second set, GCU fought back and took a close 19-21 win. In the third set, Sassack and Wolfe fought hard and pulled out a 15-13 win. Tallahassee, Fla, – The number two ranked Florida State Seminoles started their season 5-0 after defeating two ranked teams at their annual Beach Bash tournament. On Sunday, Feb 26th, the Noles defeated No. 16 FIU 4-1 and No.19 South Carolina 4-1.
Florida State improved their all-time opening weekend record to 38-3 and their home record to 65-3.

The Seminoles are now 11-2 all-time against the Golden Panthers. The first match point came from court one by the duo of Maddie Anderson and Paige Kalkhoff. The pair won two quick sets against the Golden Panthers 21-12 and 21-19.
Court five quickly followed suit with Carra Sassack and Chloe Charles defeating the FIU pair 21-17 and 21-18 in their first pairing together this season.
The match-clinching point was earned by Morgan Chacon and Caitlin Moon on court four. Moon and Chacon put together some close points against the Golden Panthers but held on to win both sets 21-19 and 21-18.

The Seminoles went unbeaten in all but one game played today. The Seminoles move to 1-0 against Coastal Carolina, 7-0 against Cal Poly and 1-0 against Washington. The Seminoles spared no time winning the first set on all courts. Courts one, two, and four dominated, refusing to allow Coastal Carolina to take the lead in either set. Maddie Anderson and Paige Kalkhoff won quickly with set one 21-14 and set two 21-12 on court one. Alexis Durish and Raelyn White won 21-13 in both sets on court two.
