okay. we want to get you back to the breaking news that we ve been following the last 15, 20 minutes or so. a single engine plane apparently has crashed into a building here, an office building. it s beginning to take on the feel that maybe we re talking about some kind of a government building office park here. this is in austin, texas, right now, northwest austin. and we have some additional information from our affiliate station there. i hope it s one of our affiliates, kvue in austin. here s the information on their website. a small single engine plane crashed into the building you see right here, this is northwest austin, and you see the firefighters working over the fire that resulted from that crash. it happened near mopac.

megan riley. reporter: how do you spell that last name? r-i-l-e-y. reporter: tell us what you saw. a little before 10:00, i was over at mopac and 183, the plane came flying over, it looked like pretty much straight from the east. it was kind of curving a little bit. it looked like there was nothing wrong with it. it sounded like it was running fine, the engines weren t smoking or anything, but it was really low, almost to the power lines. and it was clipping really, really sharply to the left. and honestly, we kind of thought it was somebody just messing around, flying too low, trying to scare their copilot or what not, until we heard the explosion. and we looked out over here and the siding of this building had fallen down. so, yeah. reporter: describe for me what that it had to be surreal? it definitely was. because like i said, we thought
way off in the distance there, upper right corner, you can see downtown austin. and that s the orientation. there you go, right there. just off frame, center right, is that new church that jack was talking about, that is just barely been opened, maybe four, five months. as a matter of fact, i watched that church come from the ground, because my home is maybe 2 miles from that, back up north, around the duvall area, and i go by these buildings every morning. so does catherine, when we come to work, because we come right down research and then hit the flyover and hit mopac and come on into the city. part of our commute and other the other side where the camera is positioned, you ve got the shopping, crate & barrel, the foods, that s the gateway shopping center there. so this is as jack said a very busy area. i mean, mopac and 183 are obviously huge arteries in the city of austin, this is probably going to affect traffic pretty much all day and they have that frontage
report let me just give you context, it s north austin, the echelon building if you have been there on mopac and 183. a lot of traffic being diverted just for safety reasons. an earlier report that the fbi is in that building is not true, they are in the building next door, but i am seeing one local report that the irs and cia have offices in this complex. during the early morning rush hour hours when this plane was seen in the area as you said, jon, that one report. this report that i m looking at is saying that it appeared on te a cessna, but we re not experts. we ll have to wait until the investigators who are, obviously, taking a very close look, because the witness we talked to, wes, he said this is not a place where he s used to
