completely accidental, perhaps a pilot who had some kind of a problem with his or her aircraft, simply was not able to control it, and hit this building in austin, texas. let s take a look at the map that our gravics department has put together. it shows the location of birkstrom airport, which is believed to have been either the takeoff location or the possible landing location for this flight. bir bergstrom airport, to this building, and as i understand it, it is separated by about 15 miles. now, we are told by one of the fbi spokesmen that their building does lie in the flight path there. jaime that was interesting, though, that he hadn t heard about planes coming in this area, if he worked in that building every day. he said it would be an unusual occurrence. it s good to have clarification from the fbi that they don t consider this to be anything other than a tragic accident. but of course, as we were
it heading towards the building and then hitting the building. have you heard any reports of that? what have you learned? i ve not heard any reports of that, and that would be a law enforcement issue, and they d have to speak to him. just to review, could you reiterate what you said at the start about the state of affairs at the moment? we are currently in an offense i have fire fight inside the building at 9430 research boulevard. anything from law enforcement? what are you doing to scott perry with austin police department. as far as law enforcement right now, like chief evans said, it s very early in the investigation, we re going to let the firefighters put the fire out. we have numerous streets in the area closed, so it s definitely going to affect traffic, the frontage roads of 183 and research boulevard are closed, ask everyone to stay away from the area until things start to subside or relax. there is no electricity, again, in the immediate area, so there are going

right now. if the reports that rick has given us ring true and we have every reason to believe they are, it s one pilot who may have committed this act of flying a plane into a building, but in terms of air traffic in the area just in case this may be something bigger than that, what would they be doing, air traffic control? i m sure air traffic is monitoring this. i know faa, you know, immediately puts, you know, they have a, an emergency operation line that is open 24 hours a day. and so i m sure this is a topic of discussion, so everybody that needs to be able to make a decision based on information is listening in on this call, everybody s sharing information. so controllers are very well aware what s going on, and everybody s probably getting a lot more information than what we ve seen so far. all right. scott, anything else you want our viewers to know as you look at the pictures and kind of analyze with your expertise what appears to have happened today?
