Moorhead Mayor Judd to make resignation official as he leaves to become district judge

Fargo, ND, USA / Y94 Feb 8, 2021 1:18 PM MOORHEAD, MINN. (KFGO) – Moorhead Mayor Johnathan Judd will submit his formal resignation from the city council Monday night. Judd’s appointment to a judgeship in the Seventh Judicial District by Governor Tim Walz two weeks ago requires him to step down from the mayor’s job he’s held for two years. City manager Dan Mahli says the process will then start to fill the mayor’s position in the interim. He says the council could elect the interim mayor now or at a later meeting. Any council member could be picked. Mahli says Deputy Pro Tem Mayor Shelly Carlson, who is a council member from Ward 2, will preside over Monday night’s meeting.
