The MICHELIN Guide celebrated Chicago s resilient culinary scene with the announcement of 24 Starred awards. Two new Two MICHELIN Stars and one new One MICHELIN Star were revealed on the MICHELIN Guide Instagram channel through surprise interviews with chefs. MICHELIN Guide inspectors were honored to commemorate the strength and creativity of Chicago chefs and restaurant teams throughout the past year, said Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the MICHELIN Guides. Our teams look forward to discovering even more new talent in the area as the industry continues to emerge from the crisis.

The next round of Michelin stars is out. The French producer of guides announced on Thursday awards for New York City and Westchester County, N.Y., restaurants, and revealed additions seven new one-stars and no subtractions.
Now 49 restaurants have the one-star distinction, and the additions are Rezdôra, Don Angie, Tsukimi, Jua, Kochi, Vestry and Francie. The stars focus on fine dining, mostly upscale restaurants with tasting menus that skew pricey. Michelin has another ranking, the Bib Gourmand list, that focuses on more casual restaurants.
The tire company began awarding stars to Chicago restaurants in 2011, and the guide is also in other major markets, including New York, Washington, D.C., and LA. Michelin last announced stars for Chicago in September 2019, and that list contained 25 restaurants. Since then, a trio of starred Chicago restaurants have closed: Band of Bohemia, Blackbird, and Everest.

The international restaurant guide announced its stars for the Windy City on April 29. In the midst of unprecedented dining room closures around the country, Michelin added two two-star restaurants to its list. A two-star restaurant is defined by the guide as âexcellent cooking that is worth a detour.â The price tag is routinely hundreds of dollars per person.
