If you're on the hunt for a new vegan eatery in Montreal, you're in luck. There's a brand new restaurant in the Plateau serving up traditional veggie dishes. Tula, located on boulevard Saint-Laurent, claims to be the city's only authentic plant-based Indian restaurant. It officially opened its doors on February 21 for take-out, on-site dinner, lunch, and soon, weekend brunch.
Montrealers love a bánh mì the crispy baguette slathered in buttery mayo, stuffed with seasoned meat or veggies, and topped with cilantro, cucumber and pickled carrots full of crumbs, but far from crummy. Some local restaurants know how to make the sandwich just right with fresh ingredients and even fresher takes on the Vietnamese-French fusion. According to Google data, these are the best places in the city to get a bánh mì.
Lobster mac 'n' cheese is always decadent, but one Montreal restaurant is taking the dish to a whole new level. Guilt & Ivy, a new raw bar and grill in Westmount, is serving its latest creation, 'The King's Holiday,' in a WHOLE lobster. The lobster is smothered in mac 'n' cheese with a homemade Béchamel sauce. A mix of cheeses is grated and seared on top to create a perfect combination of crispy, creamy and creative. Crackers are also provided so you can get your hands on the juicy meat inside.
Montreal is chock full of award-winning restaurants to entice your taste buds and budding romance, but some spots score way higher on scoring you another date. La Fabrique in the Plateau may well top the list, and not just in the city it actually ranked as one of the most date-worthy dinner destinations in Canada this year. After a recent visit with my partner, I get why.
You might know Niko Atsaidis, but maybe not by name. His popular restaurant reviews have garnered him a large audience on TikTok, where he's best known as that guy who tried 50 poutines in seven days. After that viral success, which cost upwards of $1,000, Atsaidis is looking to further ventures to expand his career, specifically a new Greek restaurant in Villeray called Minos Souvlaki Gyro.
