Police investigate after two women were killed in a triple shooting Jan. 28 at an apartment complex near Montgomery and Carlisle. (Matthew Reisen/Albuquerque Journal)
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. Albuquerque police are holding a two-month operation along Montgomery Boulevard after a spike of violent incidents at apartment complexes in the area.
Since Jan. 1, four people have been killed and others injured in multiple separate shooting incidents along Montgomery.
The homicides were clustered at complexes near Montgomery and Carlisle, but police say the operation will target the Montgomery corridor.
“Having a large police presence in an area that has recently seen violent crime spike, will without a doubt deter these incidents from occurring,” Police Chief Harold Medina said.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. APD shut down Montgomery Boulevard near San Mateo Thursday night in response to a female subject who was armed with a shotgun. That subject was later identified as 27-year-old Brandy Allen.
Dispatch said they received multiple calls that the woman threatened to shoot several people in the area. According to calls from family members, the woman had been involved in a domestic dispute with them and threatened them with the shotgun.
Police said they took the woman into custody with the use of less lethal munitions.
A standard use of force investigation has been initiated as a result.
