Monterey County elected officials on Tuesday set into law restrictions on single-use plastics used by food service vendors anywhere in the unincorporated area of the county.
The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to bring the ordinance restricting single-use plastics back on Oct. 10 where they signaled they would support passing the county law. There are roughly 600 food providers in the unincorporated areas of the county.
The Monterey City Council Wednesday unanimously approved moving ahead with one of four tentative designs for a 42-unit, 100% affordable housing project on city land right behind City Hall. The project itself was not approved, rather the council provided direction for city planning staff to move ahead with one option, designated as Site Plan 4.
