Monroe teens face murder charges after Monday shooting
The following information comes from arrest warrants filed by Monroe Police Department.
Antonio Antwone Hollins, 18, of Monroe was arrested Tuesday evening and booked into Ouachita Correctional Center on charges of second-degree murder and aggravated assault with a firearm.
Around 2:30 a.m., the Monroe Police Department responded to a shooting in the 1600 block of Crescent Drive that activated the Shot Spotter detection system.
At the scene, officers found that Rakeem Newell, 18, had been shot several times. He was found dead at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport-Monroe Medical Center after the shooting.
Witnesses said Newell was at the scene when he was shot.

Ochsner LSU Health was formed in October 2018 when Ochsner Health and LSU Health Shreveport partnered to manage two former charity hospitals, a network of clinics and health centers and a physicians group, all in north Louisiana.

SHREVEPORT, La., Jan. 20, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport and Oceans Healthcare today announced the opening of Louisiana Behavioral Health. The facility, located at 9320 Linwood Avenue in Shreveport, expands access to behavioral health care in the community and will execute a phased opening, accepting patients beginning January 20. It will provide inpatient care for patients 18 and older immediately, adding geriatric services for patients 55 and older by March and an intensive outpatient program by the end of 2021.
