17-year-old arrested after striking 18-year-old brother while in the presence of police.

Galesburg Police on Sunday night were dispatched to the area of Monmouth Boulevard and South Academy Street for a possible domestic battery. An 18-year-old male flagged down officers and told police he was going to kill his 17-year-old brother. Two brothers were in the roadway arguing. As officers met with the two teens, the 17-year-old approached the 18-year-old and punched him in the face. The details regarding how the fight started remain unclear, but according to police reports the two brothers were arguing about money. The 17-year-old was taken into custody but continued to scream while being placed in a squad car. The teen was transported to the Knox County Jail and processed by jail staff. He was charged with Domestic Battery and released to his mother.

Female facing battery and gun charges after domestic dispute turns physical

Galesburg police yesterday responded to the 500 block of Monmouth Boulevard for a domestic dispute that turned physical. A 29-year-old male was on the phone with dispatch saying he was being attacked by a 30-year-old female whom he's been in a relationship with. Officers arrived on the scene and met with the male who was at the home attempting to collect his property. The female was detained due to her aggressive behavior. The male had a scratch on his forehead caused by the female. The female admitted to scratching the male and told police it happened when she, "tried to push him down the stairs." A second police unit arrived on the scene due to a valid warrant for the female who was in possession of three firearms without a valid FOID card. Police took possession of one 9mm handgun and the female told police the two other guns were in her brother's possession. The male victim admitted to living at the residence for a year. Alexis woman facing numerous traffic citations over early Sunday crash

Around 2:15 am Sunday morning (June 5th), Galesburg Police responded to the 300 block of Monmouth Boulevard for a report of a traffic crash. Officers arrived and observed a damaged, black, 2020 Nissan Maxima and a white 2019 GMC SUV on its side. No occupants were present in either vehicle, and a witness told police a female subject was seen walking from the scene talking on the phone. Officers made contact with the 24-year-old female who initially said she was not involved in the crash. After further questioning, the female admitted she was a passenger in the vehicle and she and the female driver had been drinking. The driver was identified as 25-year-old Shelbie Lair of Alexis. Inside the wrecked SUV, officers found Lair's driver's license, phone, and purse. Later on Sunday, Lair reported to the Public Safety Building to turn herself in.
