Galesburg Police on Saturday, December 11th, responded to a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of Monmouth Boulevard and McClure Street. Officers arrived shortly after 7:30 pm and observed a black SUV had struck the concrete wall near the intersection next to West Central FS. A male subject was laying on the ground near the driver's side door. The male had visible injuries to his right leg and GHAS EMTs were on site preparing to transport him to St. Mary's Medical Center. The male was identified as 49-year old Lee Olson of Galesburg. Olson was emitting a strong alcoholic odor with slurred speech and glossy eyes. It was determined Olson had a compound fracture in his leg, and other serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was eventually transported to St. Anthony's Medical Center in Rockford via Life-Flight. Due to his injuries, a field sobriety test was not conducted. Just after 4:30 pm on Saturday, October 2nd Galesburg Police responded to Shady Hill on Monmouth Boulevard for a battery complaint. 37-year old Travis Simpson of Galesburg has been banned from the property for causing multiple disturbances but used to be a regular, so bar staff was familiar with him. When Simpson tried to come inside the bar, employees told him to leave causing him to become irate. Simpson picked up a rock and threw it at a female employee's face - breaking her glasses. Numerous witnesses confirmed the employee's account. Simpson was found walking down Monmouth Boulevard less than an hour later and taken into custody. He was charged with Criminal Trespassing, Criminal Damage, Disorderly Conduct, and Aggravated Battery in a Public Place.

A male 17-year old is facing numerous charges in Knox and Warren Counties after stealing a truck in Monmouth. Warren County Sheriff’s Deputies were being led on a vehicle pursuit into Galesburg in the early morning hours on Sunday by a male juvenile in a stolen truck. Galesburg Police attempted to stop the vehicle near the Monmouth Boulevard / Linwood Road intersection when the teen swerved into the wrong lane of traffic attempting to avoid capture. The juvenile, however, turned into Swing’s Mobile Home Park at a high rate of speed – which is known for its numerous dead-end streets. The male fled from the vehicle on Daniel Drive. He was eventually tackled to the ground and taken into custody by Galesburg Police. The truck belonged to a Monmouth resident – and the teen was in possession of another Monmouth resident’s wallet.
