Food hall coming to Wilmington, what will that look like?

Although still more than a year away, an N.C.-based company is already talking with local chefs, musicians and other vendors to fill a space that will include a food hall and music venue at 1315 S. 5th Ave.  Monarch Property Co., which is behind Raleigh’s Transfer Co. Food Hall, is also developing this social hall in the Greenfield Park/South Front areas near downtown Wilmington.  Food halls, which collect several dining concepts in one space, have been booming across the country. Food industry statistics show that their number has tripled since 2016. Seaboard Social Hall will be a 43,000-square-foot gathering place in the former National Linen Service Building, near the local International Longshoremen s Association site and The Rusty Nail bar and blues club.

Combined food hall and music venue slated to open in Greenfield Lake area by end of 2022

The National Linen Service Building at 1315 S. Fifth Ave. will become Seaboard Social Hall, a 43,000 square-foot space that will house a food hall and indoor music venue. (Port City Daily/Shea Carver) WILMINGTON The Southside of downtown will be getting tastier and more cultured when a 43,000-square-foot building transforms into Seaboard Social Hall. The business will be the first of its kind in Wilmington, combining a food hall and indoor music venue at the National Linen Service Building (1315 S. Fifth Ave.), located across from blues venue The Rusty Nail.  Monarch Property Co. developer Jason Queen, co-owner of Raleigh’s Transfer Co. Food Hall, is behind the $15-$20 million project. Queen told Port City Daily multiple investors are involved in the business model, which will add around 100 jobs locally and continue forth with revitalization of the Greenfield Lake area.
