Ruth Usoro continued her impressive season Friday evening when she leapt 6.82m to win the The Big 12 Indoor Track & Field Championship, which took place at the Sports Performance Center, Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas.
Her performance met the 6.82m qualifying standard for the 2020 Olympics for the women’s long jump event.
It’s also the second-farthest this year and the meet and school’s records.
Tara Davis finished second, jumping 6.68m, while Monae Nichols placed thirdrd with a jump of 6.46m.
The PUNCH had reported that Usoro broke the national record in the women’s triple jump event at the Texas Tech Corky Classic in January.

There is a huge meet in Arkansas this weekend.
Sorry to sound like a broken record, but it has been true just about each and every week this indoor season so far as the Razorbacks are playing welcoming hosts to a number of programs looking to hit strong marks before the upcoming NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
We’ll see a plethora of talented individuals in the next few days at the Randal Tyson Track Center for the Razorback Invitational. Among those teams is Oregon, which will be competing for the first time in more than 300 days (It’s actually 336, if you want to be exact).
