Bad Axe, Ubly softball split
BAD AXE – The Bad Axe and Ubly softball teams split a doubleheader on Thursday, with the Bearcats taking Game 1 and the Hatchets bouncing back to win Game 2.
Bad Axe came got off to a slow start in Game 1, garnering only three hits in a 8-3 loss. Hits were from Sydney Prill with 2 RBIs, Haley Newland with an RBI, and Brooke Messing added a double. Newland took the loss on the mound, with Maddy Haldane pitching well in relief.
Game 2 saw the Bad Axe bats come alive for a 10-1 victory. Leading the offense was Newland (2 for 3, HR, 3 RBIs), Messing (HR), Amber Haldane (2 RBIs), and Destiny Booms (2 RBIs). Newland got the victory on the mound, giving up eight hits and one earned run while striking out two..
