Biman’s second Dash-8 ‘Akaashtori’ arrives

DHAKA, Feb 16, 2021 (BSS) – Second of three brand new Dash-8 aircraft ‘Akaashtori’ today reached at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) this afternoon.
State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Mahbub Ali was present at HSIA to receive the aircraft, a press release said.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina named the aircraft as ‘Akaashtori’ purchased from Canada’s De Havilland under G2G (Government to Government) arrangement.
Mahbub said after adding these aircrafts to the fleet, the national flag carrier will be able to enhance flight frequency in domestic and short-haul international routes.
As per directives of the Prime Minister, a total of 13 state of the art aircrafts, including 12 brand new Boeings and a Dash-8, have already been added to the fleet, he said.

Biman appoints new CEO-MD
Dr Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal has been appointed the new Managing Director(MD) and CEO of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
Outgoing Biman MD and CEO Mokabbir Hossain, however, was made chairman (secretary) of Land Appeal Board at Land Ministry.
The Ministry of Public Administration on Tuesday issued gazette notifications in this regard.
Earlier in September 2019, Mokabbir Hossain, then additional secretary of the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry was made MD and CEO of the national flag carrier. 2021-02-23
