KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 1 A total of 40,000 new applications have been received from international students to continue their studies at public universities (UA) and private institutions of higher learning (IPTS) in Malaysia as of December 2021. Education services provider, Education Malaysia Global.
In March, the number of new applications increased by 120% compared to the same month last year.
Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) received 3,254 applications compared to 1,473 and 2,654 received in March 2020 and March 2019, said its chief executive officer Mohd Radzlan Jalaludin.
And, the number of postgraduate students coming here to do their masters and doctorates from January to March this year, also saw an upward trend compared to the same period in 2020 and 2019, he said.Last year, a total of 1,555 PhD students applied to enter the country in the first three months of the year compared to 1,293 in 2019.

SIXTY-SEVEN international postgraduate students from Indonesia will be starting their studies in Malaysia after completing their seven-day quarantine.
The Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) Scholarship recipients were welcomed by Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) during a briefing session at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur on March 30.
The scholarship is an initiative to strengthen bilateral relations between Malaysia and Indonesia through education.
This is the largest number of international students sponsored by NTB since the pandemic hit, EMGS said in a press release.
Its chief executive officer Mohd Radzlan Jalaludin said EMGS would give its full support to ensure that the process for international students to study in Malaysia runs smoothly.
