Kuala Lumpur: The High Court here today sentenced former Felda Chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad (pic) to a total of 54 years in prison and a fine of RM15.45 million, in default 18 years’ jail, after finding him guilty of nine counts of corruption involving RM3 million over the agency’s purchase of Merdeka Palace Hotel & Suites (MPHS) in Kuching, Sarawak.
The former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar was sentenced to six years’ jail on each count of the charges.
However, Mohd Isa, 71, only has to serve six years in prison after Judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali ordered the prison sentences to be served concurrently.

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 4): The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has guaranteed that every corruption case investigation will be conducted with full transparency.
MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Azam Baki said every action taken by the agency was clear and uncompromising and asked all parties to remain calm so that investigations could be conducted in detail for better results.
He also asked the public not to have a negative perception of cases under investigation and to give the MACC time and space, especially when the country is facing challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic. (For instance), the court decision yesterday was a process that had to be taken (apart from) facing negative comments from the public that gave rise to a negative perception of the MACC.
