Sangrur: New Delhi-based travel agents allegedly duped Sangrur residents of Rs 27.96 lakh on the pretext of sending their son to the US. The Longowal police have registered a case. Complainant Darshan Singh from Longowal said the accused took his son to Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. In October 2020, the accused sent his son to Bangkok and promised to send him to the US through Muscat. However, he was sent back from Bangkok as he did not have valid papers. TNS
Opium seized from jail inmate
Bathinda: Opium (30 gm) was seized from a jail inmate, Sanjay Thakur, a resident of Pratap Nagar, who had been accused in the case of shooting dead youth Akali leader Sukhman. Investigating officer SI Gurmeet Kaur said the accused would be interrogated by taking a warrant to ascertain the cause of presence of opium inside the jail. TNS

New Delhi [India], February 3 (ANI): Eleven Members of Parliament from Shiromani Akali Dal, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Trinamool Congress, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP), Shiv Sena, Revolutionary Socialist Party, and Congress have given notices of adjournment motion in Lok Sabha demanding farm laws to be repealed.
These MPs include Sukhbir Singh Badal and Harsimrat Kaur Badal from SAD, Gaurav Gogoi, Manish Tiwari, Preneet Kaur, K Suresh, and Jasbir Singh from Congress. Ritesh Pandey from BSP, ET Mohd Basheer from IUML, NK Premchandran from RSP, and Adv AM Arif from CPI (M) are among those who gave notices today.
