Eid-El-Ftr: Damaturu residents groan over hike in prices of chickens

Barely few hours to Eid-El-Ftr Sallah celebrations, residents of Damaturu, the Yobe state capital have lamented over hike in the prices of chickens.
Chickens are among major ingredients needed in the festive period where special meals are prepared in order to celebrate the end of a month-long Ramadan fasting by Muslim faithful.
A market survey conducted by DAILY POST in the metropolis, revealed that the prices of chickens vary depending on size, but are a bit higher when compared to that of last year.
A Damaturu resident, Adamu Audu, who managed to buy two chickens at the cost N2,200 each, lamented over the price, saying that last year he bought chickens of same size at the coast of N1,500 per one.
51 ex-councillors dump PDP, join APC in Gombe

Fifty-one former Peoples Democratic Party councillors who served in various Local Government Areas, of Gombe State, on Thursday, dumped the opposition party to join the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Spokesman for the group of former councillors, Joseph Kwati, said their decision was based on the outstanding performance of the Gombe State Governor, Mohammed Yahaya.
The councillors, who were drawn from across the 11 local government areas of the state, were later issued with the APC membership cards after a short ceremony, at the Gombe State APC Secretariat.
Kwati, a former Secretary of the Gombe Councillors’ Forum, said, “We dumped PDP when we c ompared the achievements of APC in two years.
