DURBAN â KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has commended detectives after Mohammed Vahed Ebrahim was sentenced for the murder of nine-year-old Miguel Louw.
Ebrahim, 46, will serve an effective sentence of 25 years in prison after he was sentenced in the Durban High Court on Wednesday.
Mkhwanazi said the SAPS remain committed to bringing justice to all victims of crime in the province.
âWe are glad that this heinous crime was solved and that the perpetrator will remain behind bars for a long time.â

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has commended Provincial Organised Crime Unit detectives for their sterling investigation after Mohammed Vahed Ebrahim was sentenced for the murder of nine-year-old Miguel Louw.
Ebrahim will serve an effective sentence of 25 years in prison after he was sentenced in the Durban High Court on Wednesday.
Louw’s disappearance touched the hearts of many in KwaZulu-Natal, who were concerned for his safety.
He went missing on 17 July 2018 after leaving his Primary School in Sydenham.
During the investigation, it was established that 46-year-old Ebrahim stole the identity document of the Louw’s mother including the little boys birth certificate using it to lure the child when he was kidnapped.

Durban â Durban High Court Judge Jacqueline Henriques is on Wednesday expected to hand down her sentence to the man convicted of killing Miguel Louw.
Mohammed Vahed Ebrahim, 46, has been found guilty of the premeditated murder of Miguel.
In July 2018, Miguel was reported missing. He was last seen at an eatery near his Sydenham home with Ebrahim.
Three months later, his decomposed body was found in vacant land near Ebrahimâs home in Phoenix.
In December Ebrahim was convicted of murder, kidnapping and theft.
During the trial, it emerged that Ebrahim had worked with Miguelâs mother Raylene at a butchery. He sometimes stayed at her home and performed odd jobs in their home in Sydenham.
