As cases rise, the desperation of
patients is spilling on to the streets. Thursday saw two such cases where patients were seen waiting outside the CM’s house and the
Vidhana Soudha.
A 38-year-old man struggling to save his covid positive mother’s life, was asked to wait at the Vidhana Soudha to get an ICU bed with a ventilator.
The patient’s family had been looking for a
hospital bed for two days in vain while the ambulance in which she was kept was also running out of oxygen. The family had contacted a helpline set up by a political party and were asked to wait outside the Vidhana Soudha for an ambulance that would take them to a hospital. Mohammed Nalpad rushed to the spot minutes before other media channels arrived to hear the ordeal of the family. Soon, a crowd of about 50 people gathered around the ambulance.

BENGALURU: The ongoing cold war between state Congress president DK Shivakumar and opposition leader Siddaramaiah to establish their supremacy with an eye on the chief minister’s post is threatening to dent the party’s prospects in the 2023 assembly elections.
The dissent was more evident after the Mysuru mayoral elections where the Congress joined hands with the JD(S) despite Siddaramaiah’s disapproval. Shivakumar is learnt to have struck a deal with former CM HD Kumaraswamy through former minister Tanveer Sait. Siddaramaiah wanted the Congress to be neutral after JD(S) refused to give the mayor’s post as per the agreement.
